I mean, yeah, in the second game, he says that he's Gex's father (who supposedly died at an accident with some rocket, exposition, exposition, etc.
Though, I can't help that was more or less thrown in for the sake of referencing - I mean, it is Gex after all; a game that runs on references to numerous movies and TV shows.
Well, regardless of what/whereever he came from, Rez looks damn sinister for teh franchise! Gotta love that though.
